Roslyn Jephson (Centre Director/Owner)

Dear parents/whānau,

I have been working in early childhood since 2004 and am a qualified registered teacher.  My leadership career began in 2008 as a centre supervisor/manager. In 2015, I took on a centre director role overseeing two centres one licenced for 100 children and another for 75 children. During this time, I always wanted to own a smaller homely centre and so when I saw The Little Castle I knew this was the place for me.

Forming a strong relationship with families is important to me as an educator.  I believe in open honest communication with parents and whānau. I believe children learn best in an environment that provides a holistic approach to learning, allowing them to become confident, competent and capable learners.” The environment plays a huge role in children’s learning and development and our role as educators is to set up provocations giving the children opportunity to explore and investigate. I am passionate about the Reggio Emilia Approach and have had the opportunity to go on a study tour to Melbourne and to Reggio Emilia Italy in 2015. These study tours gave me further knowledge about this approach.

Below are some testimonials from parents of children I have previously worked with.

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Roslyn over the last four years. She was also available and gave us her time, lots of friendly chats and involvement with the families. She approaches her work with such positivity and warmth it makes the children and their parents feel at ease giving you a sense of family and community. She has a keen eye also for building her village with a solid base of top quality ECE educators that all have common values making the environment one of love and nurturing.

In the eight years we’ve known Roslyn, there’s been more moments than I can count where we’ve seen her influence in a positive way in our lives.
It’s true that there are some people who are born leaders, or born a hard worker, or born with a nurturing propensity, or some are born with a good sense of judgement. Roslyn, we have learned, is one of the very very few, without hyperbole, to have seemed to have grouped them all as her traits.
So all in all, the greatest testimony we can give as someone who can lead, care, diligently execute productivity, nurture and be firm but fair, is- we loved what she was able to do for us as a family with our first child so much, we without hesitation entrusted her with our second child & recommended her to all our friends who followed suit.
They say kids say the darndest things. Every morning… not some mornings… but every morning we walked into her facility, without any hesitation, both our children would breakout in a smile & offer her hugs. Healthy, happy Kids are a perfect testimony, & they say unreservedly – she’s worth your investment & more. We all look forward to seeing her achieve more of what she earns and deserves – Nga mihi Roslyn.

We looked at quite a few day-cares when the time came for me to go back to work. Kavya was 2 years old. None of the other day-cares we looked quite felt right but when we arrived at ‘Nurture child care and had a talk with Roslyn, centre manger that work there and asked all my questions that I wanted answered we felt satisfied. In the course of 3 years we found Roslyn has the perfect leadership combination of being emotionally sensitive to each parent and their child, as well as a fierce desire to push each child to their highest potential. The teachers working with her were inspiring and their love for the children show every day. Communication and daily updates with pictures allowed for us to stay connected while at work. Roslyn team sets the bar high for childcare school.

Roslyn was an amazing Centre Manager at the daycare our children attended for over a span of 6 years. Roslyn was always attentive and welcoming and we appreciated her availability to us. She appeared to have great rapport with the team she managed and it was great having her be part of our parenting journey!

I met Roslyn six years ago when she was the administrator of the childcare Center my daughter was attending . Roslyn is always pleasant to talk to and goes out of her way to help with anything she can ,but what I admired the most was her ability to connect with each individual family .She invested so much time into knowing both our children my husband and I and our extended family members that were involved with the children . It made me feel very confident leaving my children in their care I always felt at peace that they were part of a big extended family while they were at daycare and this would have not happened without Roslyn networking skills ,energy ,passion ,devotion and love for what she does.

My little ones have been under the care and supervision of Roslyn and her team for nearly 4 years 2015-2018. The universal feel, atmosphere and environment for the children at the early learning centre was like nothing I have ever experienced. There is genuine love and care for my babies, as well as big smiles and welcoming faces for the parents. It’s often a pull on the heart strings going back to work after becoming a Mum and with Roslyn leading the centre, I felt like my kids had oodles of love and it made things just that little bit easier! Thank you Roslyn for the amazing job you do and also the fabulous training, empowering and support you gave to the individual teachers.

Lalita Prabhu (2IC)

Kia ora, my name is Lalita Prabhu and I am a fully qualified and registered ECE Teacher. I come from a Fijian Indian background but have been born and raised here in New Zealand. I am 28 years old and have been in the ECE field for almost 8 years.

I have worked with Roslyn for the past seven years and have worked with all different age groups. I believe in supporting a child’s natural pace when it comes to their learning and development and in my opinion, nothing is more rewarding than working with our youngest generation, to be a part of their growth and journey is such an honour and not one day is ever the same. Most importantly I believe that every day should be full of fun and laughter. 🙂

I am really excited to be on this new and exciting adventure and I can’t wait to work alongside my colleagues to provide you and your child with quality care and education. I look forward to getting to know you, your child and your whanau better.

If there is anything I can help you with or if you have any questions please do not hesitate to approach me.
